For general outpatient appointments, on arrival at the hospital you should report to the control stations. There are two different admission areas for men and women.
Before procedures are undertaken, you will be given verbal information regarding the procedure and possible outcomes and complications. This information will be conveyed to you during the preoperative assessment. This will be documented and you will be asked to sign an informed consent form as an acceptance for any procedures.
For gynecology outpatient appointments you should report to the control station.
Prior to your appointment, you will have been asked to fill out a contact number form, a walk-in appointment form and asked to bring documents for your next appointment with Gynecology. You may be asked questions relating to procedures or diagnostic investigations which may be required when you arrive for your appointment. Please do not hesitate to ask medical staff any questions you may have.
Preparation for laboratory tests
You will be given specific guidance at the time for any preparation required for laboratory tests from the attending physician.
Preparation for Dialysis
Preparation for dialysis will depend on your condition and guidance from the attending physician.
Preparation for CT scans
Any CT scan examination will require a laboratory report. Preparation will depend on what type of examination you will be undertaking. You may be asked to fast (avoid food) in preparation for your scan, particularly if contrast material is to be used.
Preparation for Gastroscopy
In preparation for gastroscopy, you may be advised to fast (have nothing by mouth) for six hours.
Preparation for Magnetic Resonance Tomography
You will need to have a laboratory report for any MRI examination with contrast media. You will be asked about any previous operations you have had and whether you have any metallic implants prior to the examination.
Other medical exams/procedures
You will be advised of any preparation necessary for other tests which are available. This will also depend on your condition and the site of operation.
You should also note that more information about patient and visitor services can be found in the Patient Family Education booklet.
